Workshop CLOWN
1 - 8 August 2015
Theatre Workshop at Fabre Vieux in France
Artist-teachers: Loïc Bayle and Jessica Raynal

"A clown who enters the stage enters into the contact with all the persons in the audience. He responds to every thing that he encounters, travelling between a sympathetic smile and a sad expression.
Jacques Lecoq.

The workshop CLOWN at the Manor Fabre Vieux – Pern (LOT)
This Workshop CLOWN will offer you the opportunity to take the first steps into the vast universe of the clown. The participants search for authenticity, because you only can create the character of your clown when you give yourself entirely to the audience. Only in that communication one can find his own clown with his vulnerability and weaknesses, his poetry and colour. The clown is a poet in action; he lives in the moment, open towards the world. He tries to understand and explore everything with an immense kindness. A good, solitary and free soul who has already forgotten the moment that he is going to pass.
During the week we will explore the artistic language of each actor through playing and improvising, with an alert body, rich of sensation. Everything will be explored with an immense openness. The pedagogy is based on ‘movement theatre’, with the body and its dynamics as basic tool. This theatre allows a universal language, to be discovered, explored and played by the body. Liberating the emotions and awakening the imaginary will create the artistic language of every participant. The actors develop solo’s, duo’s and trio’s depending on the characteristics of each individual Clown. At the end we will show these theatrical materials developed in the workshop to an audience, to experience again the importance of the relationship with the audience.
Jessica Raynal and Loїc Bayle offer you as joyful tools: the movements of the body as engine, using the smallest mask in the world: the nose of the clown.

NEW: How to transform and 'translate' our own experiences in playing the clown into our work as theatre teacher or animator with students in schools and amateurs in non formal Education. 3 work sessions in the course of the week for participants interested in the exchange of our experiences in education, putting questions, designing and trying newly made assignments for educational fields.

In the program:
- observation of the body (basic tool of the actor)
- space, rhythm and scenic writing
- looking for your own clown and your own mask on stage
- creation of the characters
- laughing at your own foolishness
- improvisations
- listening to yourself and to the public
- « tours de piste » (« circuits of the ring »)
